Beyond Emancipation

Leave A Legacy

Your planned gift is a lasting investment in foster kids. By making a planned gift today, you are making a difference for years to come. A planned gift to B:E not only provides direct support for young people, it can also benefit your heirs—and yourself—as you get older.

Giving Options:

  • Bequest: leave a portion of your estate to B:E in your will.
  • Life Insurance: designate B:E as the beneficiary and your premiums are tax-deductible.
  • IRA Rollover Gifts: B:E is eligible for IRA qualified charitable deductions.
  • Charitable Lead and Remainder Trusts: Charitable lead trusts operate for a set term, and payments are made to B:E for that time period. After the end of the trust term, the remainder of the trust is distributed to non-charitable beneficiaries—such as family members. A charitable remainder trust, in contrast, can provide a stream of income for family members for the term of the trust before the remaining assets are transferred to B:E.

B:E hopes you will let us know when you have included B:E in your estate plans. We would appreciate the opportunity to honor you and will customize the recognition depending on your wishes. Sharing your plans inspires others to give.

David and Bill: Giving Back

David and Bill’s lives were deeply shaped by the foster care system, but in very different ways: one by choice and one by birth. They chose to include B:E in their estate plans to give foster kids the support every young person deserves.

Bill was adopted at birth – born to a mother who ultimately had 12 children, three of whom she put up for adoption.

“I was one of the lucky ones,” Bill says. “I could have easily gone into the foster care system. I’m very grateful that I wound up with good parents and a solid foundation to get me on the right track.”

David, on the other hand, offered that leg up for four children he adopted out of the foster care system. Hearing what his kids went through before they became part of his family inspires him to give back.

Bill and David decided they wanted to help ensure other kids have the same opportunities they and their children enjoyed. They chose to include B:E in their estate plans to provide foster kids with the love and support every kid deserves.

“I want to be able to give someone else the same opportunities that my kids had.” – David
